Announcement - New Youth Pastor

The congregation of Gentle Shepherd Community Church – Grey County is pleased to announce that J.P. Smits has accepted their call to the position of Youth Pastor.

J.P. comes to us with a passion for the evangelization and discipleship of children, youth, and young adults. J.P. was raised in Markdale and attended Grey Highlands Secondary School. He received his formal youth ministry training at Youth with a Mission (YWAM), the School of Missions and Evangelism (SOME) and at Rhema Bible Training Centre in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

J.P. has previously served as youth pastor at Blue Mountain Community Church, on short-term missions to Honduras and India, has had a successful Christian music ministry with a touring band, Zacc’s Tree, and has developed into a strong worship leader as a solo artist. He has one CD release to his credit and another project in progress. J.P. has put his music ministry and infectious enthusiasm for the gospel to good use in his previous ministry experiences and we are looking forward to the impact he is going to have amongst the youth in our community.

Jr. High ZONE

Every Monday night from 7-8:30pm, grades 6, 7 & 8 are invited to zone out of life's cycles and zone into God with good friends!  Our weekly night at the ZONE includes music, games, a Bible lesson and snack.  Extra events throughout the year include the 30 Hr. Famine, bowling, capture the flag, bonfires and other events to be announced.  Please see Pastor J.P. Smits for upcoming events.  You and your friends are always welcome!

Sr. High CORE

High school students are invited to the CORE every Wednesday night from 7-9pm.  At our weekly youth nights we try to get at the core realities of life with God in this generation.  Our Sr. High CORE are invited to join us for weekend youth conferences in Toronto, our annual Winterfest retreat at Muskoka Woods, Power House Praise, the 30 Hr. Famine, Mud Volleyball, and so much more!  Catch the upcoming events from Pastor J.P. Smits and bring yourself and a friend!
